Understanding The 2 Types Of Exchanges
First of all, it is important to understand that there are 2 different types of Cryptocurrency-based exchanges:
- Fiat exchange
Cryptocurrency-only exchange
The major difference between the two is that a cryptocurrency-only exchange typically doesn’t allow fiat currency deposits, and only accepts cryptocurrency deposits & withdrawals. (Some exchanges offer both services based on your location and the local regulations).
Fiat exchanges are a place where you can deposit fiat currency (dollars, euro, yen, etc..) and purchase cryptocurrency.
Cryptocurrency-only exchanges are a place where you can deposit, withdraw and trade cryptocurrency directly. Most cryptocurrency exchanges do not allow you to deposit fiat currency (depending on your location).
For most people, you will need to set up a fiat exchange in order to deposit fiat currency and purchase cryptocurrency with it, and a cryptocurrency exchange where you will send your funds & connect

If you are using an exchange that has been listed as 'VPN required', it's important that you activate a VPN and set the location to Sydney, Australia before you log onto the exchange website EVERY TIME. Failure to do so may result in your account being shut down by the exchange and you will no longer be able to use your account.
Additionally for those who are using an exchange that has been listed as 'VPN required', you MUST NOT complete any form of identity verification or tell the exchange where you are located.
