How to convert tokens in Metamask
The following guide will walk you through the steps on how to convert tokens on the Ethereum network using your Metamask wallet.
This guide assumes that you have already purchased a small amount of Ethereum, and currently hold it on your Cryptocurrency exchange.

Transferring Ethereum For Fees
You will be required to keep a small amount of Ethereum on your Metamask wallet in order to pay fees for transactions and swaps made on the wallet.
- Once logged into your exchange account, click on 'Assets'
- Click on 'Withdraw'
- Select 'Ethereum' (ETH) as the coin.
- Click on the Metamask Chrome/Brave extension to bring up your Metamask wallet
- Click on the 'Ethereum' icon in the top left of the screen.
- Click on 'Ethereum Mainnet'.
- Click on the 'Copy' button next to your wallet address
- Paste your Metamask wallet address into 'Wallet Address' on your exchange
- Select Chain Type 'ERC20'
- Enter the amount you'd like to transfer ($20 - $50 should be sufficient to cover a small number on transactions & fees)
- Select whether the funds are in the 'Spot' or 'Funding' section of your account
- Click 'Submit'
- Click on 'Submit' again
- Complete the verification steps to complete the withdrawal
Converting Tokens Using Your Metamask Wallet
The following example is going to demonstrate a swap from USDT to USDC on the Ethereum network. To convert other pairs, the process is identical, you simply need to import & select the coins you wish to swap.
- Click on 'Import token'
- Search for 'USDC'
- Click on 'Next'
- Click on 'Import Tokens' to finalise the process
- Click on 'Swap' from your main wallet view
- Click on 'Enable smart swaps'
- Click on 'Swap' from your main wallet view
- Select 'USDT' in the top box
- Enter the amount you wish to convert to the right of the USDT logo
- Select 'USDC' in the bottom box
Metamask will retrieve quotes for the swap for a few moments
- Click on 'Swap' once the quotes have loaded
You should now see a balance in your Metamask wallet under 'USDC'.
